The 10th edition of the ECFD will bring together researchers from academia and industry of the CFD community around massively parallel CFD codes to federate their expertise with the objective to improve both some aspects linked to physics integrated into these codes and numerical simulation methodologies to meet technical and scientific challenges already perceptible on modern hybrid supercomputers with accelerated resources. One major impact of developments expected during this event is to support and contribute to energy transition.

During two weeks, about 80 researchers, supported by computer scientists, will participate to:

  • Plenary sessions to expose all the tools and vehicles made available to users to support them in the paradigm shift from general purpose processors to accelerated innovative resources.
  • A hackathon where the objective will be to support application owners to continue their efforts to scale up their codes towards taking advantage of GPU resources.
  • A workshop on 6 different topics (Combustion, Dynamic mesh adaptation, Multi-phase Flows, Numerics, Turbulent Flows, User experience).

Objectives

  • Bring together developers and users of massively parallel fluid mechanics codes
  • Develop innovative numerical models and methods
  • Port the codes to new GPU architecture

Participants

The workshop is intended for researchers, engineers and students with a good command of the tools. It is not intended as a general training course.

IMPORTANT: the number of participants is limited to 80. Please submit your proposal as early as possible to maximize your chances of participating.

Program

  • Welcome at the center on Monday 18/01 from 14:00
  • Beginning of the workshop on Monday 18/01 at 16:30 with the opening session and presentation of the projects
  • Typical day: working session from 09:00 to 12:30, then from 13:30 to 18:00, followed by possible plenary session
  • End on Friday 29/01 at 14:00

IMPORTANT: The workshop lasts 2 weeks (18/01 to 29/01). If you can only come for one week, the organization may ask you to switch from a week to the other to maximize the occupation of the center for the whole event.

Terms of Participation

  • Participation is free of charge
  • Meals and accommodation are provided by the organization
  • Travel to Caen and transportation between Caen and the center are at the expense of the participants
  • The material is not provided: please come with your own laptop. You may bring your own screen, keyboard, etc if you can.

Registration

The deadline for application is 7 November 2026. To participate to the ECFD10:

  • The Principal Investigator (PI) of the project is required to submit the project description, using the provided PPT template, via email to:

ecfd@services.cnrs.fr

Projects will be selected according to the number of places available.
